r/ClaudeAI

I’ve been using Claude Code for a month. Here is my honest feedback.

I'm a solo developer who maintains a legacy app (12 years old, no tests, PHP) by myself. I was a bit of a skeptic but gave it a go.

It's pretty scary. It deleted a config file once because it "thought" it was unused. I've gotten in the habit of thoroughly examining diffs before accepting them now, and of course, I rolled the delete back via git.

The one thing I've learned to do, though, is get it to test the existing code before ever refactoring any of it. That's been the absolute best thing it's made me do.

I'd be really interested to hear more people's experiences with using Claude Code with a legacy code base.
